Bela and Mimi Vadasz met in college and subsequently started Alpine Skills International, and guiding operation that emphasized ski mountaineering in their curriculum of skills taught. They were influential in developing the American Mountain Guides Association certification program to an international level. Bela was one of two American guides first accepted as UIAGM licensed.
